In short. We collect only what you choose to share with us (for example, when you send an enquiry or message us on WhatsApp) and simple, anonymous counts of how our pages are used. We don’t sell your data, we don’t run advertising trackers on this website, and you can ask us to see, correct or delete your data at any time.

This policy explains what personal data we collect through this website and on WhatsApp, why we collect it, how long we keep it and the rights you have. By using this website you agree to this policy.

What this website does, and doesn’t do

This website is a product catalogue for gair. It has no shopping cart, no customer accounts and no payment system, and we do not collect card, UPI or bank details here.

  • When you tap Buy Now, you leave this website and go to the Gingerair marketplace (gingerair.in/marketplace), where you place your order. The marketplace’s own terms and privacy policy apply to anything you do there.
  • When you tap Buy via WhatsApp or any WhatsApp button, the WhatsApp app or website opens with a message ready to send to us. Nothing is shared with us until you send it.

Personal data we collect

Data you give us

  • Contact form: your name, email address, phone number (optional), the topic, the product you’re asking about (optional) and your message.
  • Seller Programme application: your name, business name, phone number, email address, city and state, business type, the products you’re interested in, expected monthly volume, GSTIN (optional), store or website link (optional) and any message you add.
  • WhatsApp: your WhatsApp name and number, and the messages, photos or videos you send us, for example about an order, a return or a question.
  • Email and phone: anything you share when you write to or call us.

Data collected automatically

  • Anonymous usage counts. We count how many times our pages and products are viewed and how many times the Buy Now and WhatsApp buttons are tapped. These are stored only as daily totals per page or product. We do not build profiles of visitors.
  • Temporary anti-abuse identifier. To avoid counting the same visit twice and to stop spam, our server creates a one-way, scrambled code from your IP address and browser details. It is kept for no more than 30 minutes, and your IP address itself is not stored by our analytics.
  • Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) for security and to keep the website running.

Cookies and storage on your device

We don’t use advertising or third-party tracking cookies on this website. To make the website work smoothly, it saves a few small items in your own browser’s storage. These stay on your device and are not sent to us:

Item What it’s for How long
Saved products Remembers the products you tap the heart on Until you clear it
Recently viewed Shows the products you looked at recently Until you clear it
Compare list Remembers products you picked to compare Until you clear it
Page loader and visit flags Smooth page transitions and avoiding double counts Until you close the tab

If you sign in to the website as an administrator, WordPress sets its own login cookies. Visitors who don’t sign in don’t receive these.

Why we use your data

  • To reply to your enquiry and help you choose or buy a product.
  • To help with orders, deliveries, returns, refunds and product support.
  • To review Seller Programme applications and talk to you about a partnership.
  • To understand, in total, which pages and products are popular, so we can improve the website.
  • To keep the website secure and prevent spam and misuse.
  • To meet our legal obligations, including tax and consumer protection laws.

We process the data you share in a form or message on the basis of your consent, which you give when you tick the consent box or send us a message, and for the specific purpose you contacted us about. We may also process data where the law allows it without consent, for example to comply with a legal obligation.

We don’t use your data for automated decisions about you, and we don’t send you marketing messages unless you ask us to.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell or rent your personal data. We share it only when needed:

  • Within Gingerair, with the team members who need it to help you.
  • Service providers who work for us, such as our website hosting provider and our email provider, under obligations to keep it confidential and secure.
  • WhatsApp (Meta Platforms), when you choose to contact us on WhatsApp. WhatsApp’s own privacy policy applies to how it handles your messages.
  • Delivery and logistics partners, if we arrange a pickup or replacement for you.
  • Authorities, when the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our customers or the public.

Our service providers may store data on servers outside India. Where they do, we take reasonable steps to make sure your data stays protected, as permitted by Indian law.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries and messages: for as long as we need them to help you and to keep proper business records, after which we delete them.
  • Seller Programme applications: for as long as we are reviewing your application or working with you, and for a reasonable time afterwards for our records.
  • Anonymous usage counts: these contain no personal data and may be kept indefinitely.
  • Where the law requires us to keep certain records for longer (for example, for tax purposes), we keep them for that period.

How we protect it

We use reasonable security safeguards to protect your personal data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted access for our team, and spam and abuse protection on our forms. No method of storing or sending data over the internet is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India of a personal data breach as required by law.

Your rights

Under the DPDP Act and other Indian laws, you have the right to:

  • Access: ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it.
  • Correction and completion: ask us to correct or update data that is wrong or incomplete.
  • Erasure: ask us to delete your data when it is no longer needed for the purpose you gave it for, unless the law requires us to keep it.
  • Withdraw consent: withdraw your consent at any time. This doesn’t affect what we did before you withdrew it.
  • Grievance redressal: complain to our Grievance Officer (details below), and if you’re not satisfied with the outcome, to the Data Protection Board of India.
  • Nominate: nominate another person to exercise these rights for you in case of death or incapacity.

To use any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on your request.
